John radiated from Salinas High School in 191 9, and enrolled to Stanford university. “He studied intermittently at Stanford for six years, leaving campus frequently to take odd jobs in farms, factories or ranches,” (“John Steinbeck”). John left Stanford in 1925 never receiving a degree but always spoke fondly of Stanford. In 1928 he moved to San Francisco to be with his girlfriend that he married TV years later (“Steinbeck, John”). John continued to write and soon came out with his first successful novel, Tortilla Flat in 1935 (Milliamp, Joseph R. ). Tortilla Flat was a “serious of humorous stories about Monterey passions” (John Steinbeck – Biographical). John continued to write and published about one book a year. Steinbeck published Of Mice and Men in 1937, as Joseph Milliamp calls it an “A harsh and realistic novel, but its beautiful evocation friendship and reams makes it a timeless American Tale. Another classic Steinbeck wrote was The Pearl, a symbolic tale of a Mexican Fisherman in 1947 (Milliamp, Joseph According to John Steinbeck – Biographical, “In 1939 Steinbeck published what is considered to be his best work, The Grapes of Wrath, the story of Oklahoma tenant farmer who, unable to earn a living from the land, moved to California where they became migratory worker”. In Steinbeck later years he published East of Eden, which a few years ago had a huge ailing moment when Opera “picked” it along with The Grapes Of Wrath (Goodliest, Robert).

Steinbeck won the Pulitzer Prize for The Grapes of Wrath and catapulted him into his generation’s literary elite in 1 940 (“Opera Wineries Official Website”). In 1 962 Steinbeck won the Nobel Prize for literature which was a huge accomplishment in his life (“Steinbeck”). Steinbeck was very modest about his talent as a writer but talked openly about his Prize (“Steinbeck Center”). Deed Rickets strongly influenced Steinbeck writings between the sass and 1 sass (“John Steinbeck”).

They would travel together to get Steinbeck mind of writing and wrote a book together called Gulf of Mexico (Steinbeck, John(Ernest)). Steinbeck often based a character in his books about Rickets (“John Steinbeck”). Steinbeck and Rickets close relationship came to an end when Steinbeck moved away from Pacific Grove and divorced his wife, Carol (“John Steinbeck’). Steinbeck major themes through out his books were relationships, loyalty, and optimism (“John Steinbeck – Biographical). Many of Steinbeck books turned into movies by very famous actors.

Some of the most famous films that were produced from his books were Cannery Row, East of Eden and The Pearl (Goodliest, Robert). Today many students from classrooms all over read his novels then compare with the films that were produced (“John Steinbeck”). Sadly, Steinbeck died at the young age Of 66 on December 20, 1969 (“Opera Winery’s Official Website”). Steinbeck was a lifelong smoker that died of heart disease and congestive heart failure (“John Steinbeck”). Days following Steinbeck death many newspapers wrote about him and all his great accomplishments.

Steinbeck is extremely popular today and thousands of people, including young children read and learn about his books. In 1998 the National Steinbeck Center opened in Salinas, California (“Steinbeck Center”). The Steinbeck Center gets over 1 00,000 visitors per year and encourages learning about literature, human nature, history, agriculture, and the arts (“John Steinbeck”). Today all of Steinbeck books are in print and over 700,000 copies a year are sold total (“Opera Winery’s Official Website”). Steinbeck is greatly remembered in the world today for his amazing literature.
